8 Hindi remakes of popular international shows: Have you watched the Good Wife, Fauda, Elite, and more?

The Trial starring Bollywood star Kajol is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on July 14th. The legal drama is a remake of the hit American TV show, The Good Wife, headlined by Julianna Margulies. It is among the several international shows remade in Hindi, including the upcoming series Citadel, a remake of the 2023 Prime Video original series of the same name. An obvious concern with these remakes is whether they would manage to deliver the story in an authentic manner or will the essence of the plot be lost in translation. Some also argue that such adaptations serve as a tribute to the original work and remaking it in another language, only allows for the story to reach and be appreciated by a wider audience. And in doing so, certain creative liberties should be allowed in refurbishing the story to blend into the new setting while retaining the spirit of the original writing.
