Can robots in South Korea feel overworked? The question of AI potentially becoming sentient and surpassing human intelligence took center stage. Join our host Leslie D'Monte and Shouvik Das in our latest episode where they discuss the most talked-about topic, "Robots Committing Su****." Robots were fundamentally created to enhance efficiency and tackle tasks beyond human capability. Machines, like robotic vacuums or smart cars, are designed to operate optimally with necessary downtime for maintenance, similar to how electric cars need recharging breaks, rather than being treated as sentient beings or companions. The discussion also touched upon the underwhelming market performance of foldable smartphones. Despite nearly a decade of innovation and about 910 variants available in India, foldables have only captured around 0.4% of the market. Is the price point the issue or the user experience? Perhaps there is a lack of innovation and practicality, suggesting many potential users already own tablets and other devices that serve as substitutes. Additionally, can iPhones in India dial satellites? Apple's upcoming iPhones, starting with the iPhone 14 and extending to future models, are expected to incorporate satellite communication for emergency purposes. While this promises significant benefits, such as enabling messages when stranded without cellular service, the feature's full implementation remains pending regulatory approvals. Comparing it to Qualcomm's scrapped plan for similar technology, they noted that despite potential challenges, satellite communication could become a crucial selling point for phones in the near future.
