Netflix ventures into medical drama with Pulse starring Justina Machado
Netflix has greenlit its first medical procedural, Pulse, as it ventures into the realm of medical dramas to rival ABC's popular series, Grey's Anatomy. Set in a Level 1 Trauma Centre in Miami, the show revolves around Dani Simms, played by Justina Machado, who unexpectedly becomes chief resident amid a tumultuous romantic relationship. Machado's character, Natalie Cruz, serves as both a doctor and the Chair of Surgery and Emergency Medicine. Machado is widely recognised for her role as Penelope Alvarez in Netflix's modern-day reboot of One Day at a Time. Pulse is helmed by Zoe Robyn, known for her work on The Equalizer, and executive produced by Carlton Cuse, renowned for Lost and Locke & Key. While there is no confirmed release date yet, anticipation builds for Netflix's inaugural medical procedural.
