Cord Jefferson's American Fiction trailer release has set the internet ablaze with excitement. The film features Jeffrey Wright in the role of Thelonious "Monk" Ellison, a struggling author whose works, while good, remain largely unnoticed. Monk resorts to a cunning ploy, writing a book he claims as his own, a "Black Book" penned under the alias Stagg R. Leigh. This work, filled with stereotypes and profitable images of a "typical" black person facing adversity, becomes an unexpected sensation, landing Monk a movie deal with Michael B. Jordan but also entangling him in criminal accusations inspired by his own narrative. The movie, releasing on 15th December this year, boasts a stellar cast, including Tracee Ellis Ross, and Sterling K. Brown, making it a must-see.
