Superstar Rajnikanth’s latest film Jailer has already passed several box office milestones after becoming the highest opening for a Tamil film in India. However, the film’s Hindi release has hit a snag. The national multiplexes demanded the filmmakers keep an eight-week gap before the OTT release, but the filmmakers are only keen on a four-week gap, causing the Hindi screening to be halted until a breakthrough in negotiations can be finalised. Pankaj Jaysinh of UFO argued that the clause is fundamentally wrong considering several films have shorter theatrical runs. Jailer has grossed over ₹72 crores on its opening day despite releasing on a working day.
