Deadline has reported that Warner Bros is closing in on a deal to adapt the hit Harry Potter franchise into a TV series. The author of the original books, J K Rowling, has come under scrutiny in recent years for her stance on transgender rights. And it now appears that Rowling will serve as executive producer but will not helm the project for HBO Max. It has also been reported that each of the seven books will be adapted into seven seasons. The move comes after Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s reported interest in bringing back iconic IPs owned by WB back to the mainstream, similar to how Disney has handled Star Wars.
