Bill Skarsgård will reprise his iconic role as Pennywise in the prequel series Welcome to Derry, set to premiere on Max in 2025. The series, a collaboration with creatives from the It films including Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, explores Pennywise's origins before the events of It and It Chapter 2. Andy Muschietti will direct four of the nine episodes. Skarsgård, known for roles in Hemlock Grove and John Wick Chapter 4, also stars in upcoming projects The Crow and Nosferatu, releasing later this year.
