Cognizance is being taken for appropriate action,” the rights body chairperson Priyank Kanoongo said on Monday.  In a tweet earlier, aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said he would himself probe the case. “There is zero tolerance towards such behaviour. No human being should have to go through this! Investigating the matter by myself, post which appropriate action will be taken (sic),” Scindia tweeted. Russian President Vladimir Putin justified his faltering 10-week-old invasion of Ukraine as a battle comparable to the fight against Nazi Germany as he presided over his annual display of military might on Moscow’s Red Square. “Today, you’re defending what our fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers fought for,” Putin said in a speech before the military parade on Monday, flanked by World War II veterans at the May 9 Victory Day celebration marking the German defeat in 1945. A day after Khalistani flags were found hung at Himachal Pradesh’s state assembly, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has said he has spoken with the central government. The state police on Sunday had sealed the borders as the banned Khalistan group – ‘Sikhs For Justice’ (SFJ) – claimed the responsibility for the incident. Meanwhile, the opposition has been attacking the BJP government as the incident comes months ahead of the state elections, due later this year. India has become the fifth biggest international market for Benedict Cumberbatch’s latest release, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film is just inches away from entering the ₹100 crore club. The film released on May 6 in India and has collected ₹97 crore on opening weekend. The film had a grand opening with ₹30 crore on its first day in the country. Apart from its remarkable day one earnings, the film also had a promising start with advance bookings of ₹10 crore. On day three, India has emerged as the first’s biggest market after US, Korea, UK, Mexico and Brazil. Learning to shut out outside influences is something that young players like Umran Malik will have to learn quickly to be successful at the highest level, according to India batting great VVS Laxman. Laxman, who is currently the director of cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) said that he may not have to put any protection around Umran if the young tearaway fast bowler understands how to stay focussed in the face of distractions.
