A viral video of a couple begging to collect money to get the body of their son released from a hospital in Bihar’s Samastipur has sparked outrage. The parents had alleged that an employee of Sadar Hospital asked them for Rs 50,000 to release the mortal remains of their son, who had gone missing a few days ago, according to news agency ANI. Reacting to the report, ace electoral strategist-turned-political activist Prashant Kishor targeted Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar over his claims of “sushasan”, or good governance. “Humanity is ashamed, yet #NitishKumar’s claim of good governance is intact!!!” Kishor tweeted in Hindi. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi urged Nitish Kumar to take strict action against the hospital, saying the news was “depressing to the core”. “Faith in humanity dies a little every single day. This is depressing to the core, are these hospitals even ashamed of themselves? I urge Hon. CM @NitishKumar Ji to take strict action against the hospital,” the Rajya Sabha member wrote on Twitter.Gujarat woman Kshama Bindu who created a row by announcing her plan to marry herself in the first-ever sologamy in India has got married in a private ceremony at her residence on Wednesday, instead of the much-publicised date June 11, to steer clear of controversy. No priest was present to solemnise the wedding, reports said. Earlier, Kshama Bindu said she will get married at a temple following all the rituals but faced resistance from local BJP leader Sunita Shukla who said she will not allow the wedding at the temple as marrying oneself is not sanctioned in the Hindu religion. The priest who had earlier agreed to get Kshama Bindu married to herself also backed out leading to a private affair at Kshama’s residence without a priest, and without a groom, of course. On the occasion, Kshama got her mehendi done and instead of the name of the partner, which is the general ritual, she dedicated her mehendi to herself writing, “Just a girl who care enough to try”.”I am against the choice of the venue. She will not be allowed to marry herself in any temple. Such marriages are against Hinduism. This will reduce the population of Hindus. If anything goes against religion, then no law will prevail,” BJP’s Sunita Shukla had said. As the priest backed out following the BJP leader’s warning, the temple was not available as the venue. Some reports claimed that Kshama has also been asked to vacate her flat where the wedding took place. With Fumio Kishida set to address the Shangri La dialogue tomorrow in Singapore, all eyes are on the Japanese Prime Minister on whether he takes on the Chinese challenge and delivers a message that unilateral change of status quo with force, be it against Taiwan, Senkaku Islands or Ukraine, is globally unacceptable. While his predecessor Shinzo Abe has made it clear that the Chinese invasion of Taiwan would be military emergency for Japan, Kishida is expected to send a message to China that any armed aggression by the PLA against Taiwan or Senkaku Islands will be met with resolute military response. He will also showcase the Japanese commitment to open and free Indo-Pacific as a push back to the growing Chinese belligerence in the region beyond South and East China Sea. Spotlight will also be on US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, whose address comes at a time when China is rapidly expanding its geo-political footprint from Far Pacific to Central Asia with Foreign Minister Wang Yi still in Kazakhstan as part of a three-day trip. The Chinese model of first commercial linkages and then diplomacy was in full display when Minister Wang visited eight nations in Oceania from May 26 to June 4.
