India on Tuesday expressed concern about the escalation in tensions between Ukraine and Russia hours after Kremlin recognised two rebel regions in eastern Ukraine. Amid worldwide condemnation over the Russia move, India said that the safety of its 20,000 citizens – including students – living in different parts of Ukraine.
For the third time in a week, India has asked students in Ukraine to leave the country. “Students are advised, in the interest of their safety, to leave Ukraine temporarily, rather than wait for an official confirmation from universities [regarding their classes],” a statement read. Several other countries have sounded alert amid the threat of the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.
