The Aam Aadmi Party has revealed its five picks for the Rajya Sabha elections. Cricketer Harbhajan Singh, Delhi MLA Raghav Chadha, IIT Delhi professor Dr Sandeep Pathak, Lovely Professional University chancellor, Ashok Mittal, and Sanjeev Arora, an entrepreneur from Punjab, have been nominated for the upper house by the party. The AAP currently has three MPs – all from Delhi. Elections for 13 Rajya Sabha seats will be held on March 13. Punjab, where the AAP marked a landslide win, will vote for five of 13 MPs. Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate at its Delhi office in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Bengal coal scam. Banerjee, 34, reached the central probe agency’s offices at around 11 am, before which officials said that investigators plan to record the Trinamool leader’s statements and confront him with ‘evidence’ about his role and links to other accused. A Delhi-Doha Qatar Airways flight made an emergency landing in the southern Pakistani port city of Karachi on Monday after smoke was detected in its cargo section. The flight took off from Delhi at 3.50 am and landed in Karachi 1.15 hours after its departure at 5.45 am. It was supposed to land in Doha at 7.15 am. In Maharashtra, Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs on Monday continued protests outside the Assembly to demand the resignation of state minister Nawab Malik. Malik, a senior leader in the NCP that is part of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi in the state, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last month in connection with a money laundering case linked to wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim. The BJP has been pressing for Malik’s sacking but, so far, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has held out. Filmmaker Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, who is known for directing Tamil films such as 3 and Vai Raja Vai, on Monday announced that she is all set for her Hindi directorial debut. Taking to Twitter, Aishwaryaa shared the title of the film, Oh Saathi Chal. As per the poster, the movie will be about an extraordinary love story. Sharing the title poster of the movie, she wrote, “My week couldn’t have started better.” India’s 27-year-old promising star has been one of the highly rated T20 players from the country. Recently, India captain Rohit Sharma had hailed the youngster and his batting prowess and felt that the team needed a batsman of his ability in Australia for the 2022 T20 World Cup. And now Sri Lankan cricket legend Kumar Sangakkara hailed Sanju Samson as “one of the best T20 players” before admitting that retaining him for the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was a no brainer.
