SC to hear Gyanvapi case today restrains local court, Delhi HC sets aside doorstep ration delivery scheme, jabs for kids below 12 is likely only at govt centres, IPL 2022 Highlights RCB vs GT: Virat Kohli roars back to form as Bangalore beat Gujarat by 8 wickets and other top news in this bulletin. The Supreme Court on Thursday restrained the Varanasi civil court from hearing the Gyanvapi mosque survey case for the time being, as it deferred its own hearing of a case on the legality of the survey to Friday on a request made by the lawyer for Hindu petitioners. A bench, led by justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, recorded the undertaking of advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, who represented the five Hindu women petitioners, and issued a directive to the Varanasi civil judge. “We accordingly direct the trial Court to strictly act in terms of the above arrangement and to desist from taking up further proceedings in the suit in view of the consensus which has been arrived at between the parties,” ordered the bench, which also comprised justices Surya Kant and PS Narasimha. The Delhi high court on Thursday scrapped the Delhi government’s door-to-door ration delivery scheme, holding that the decision to roll out the scheme, cannot be construed as a mere “executive” action as it did not have the approval of the Lieutenant Governor (L-G). The court, however, clarified that the Delhi government can make its own policy using its own resources and not those of the Union government’s, referring to the foodgrains that are typically available via fair price shops (FPS). Covid-19 vaccination for children under 12 is likely to be made available at government-run vaccination centres, people familiar with the development said, adding that the immunisation of this age group will be under closer scrutiny given the young age. India’s drugs regulator has approved the use of two coronavirus vaccines – Corbevax and Covaxin – in children under the age of 12 but the government is yet to expand the coronavirus vaccination drive to this age group. North Korea said on Friday it was achieving “good results” in the fight against the country’s first confirmed Covid-19 outbreak, as the number of people with fever symptoms surpassed 2 million. The isolated nation reported 263,370 more people with fever symptoms, and two more deaths, taking the total fever caseload to 2.24 million as of Thursday evening, including 65 deaths. The country has not reported, however, about how many have died due to Covid. Deepika Padukone showed up in a sultry red gown but Aishwarya Rai still managed to grab all attention with her shocking pink dress on the third day of the Cannes Film Festival. Arriving for a screening of Armageddon Time, Deepika and Aishwarya posed for pictures just minutes apart from each other. Deepika wore a Louis Vuitton dress with thin straps, a peplum top and a big skirt. She also wore a delicate diamond necklace and tied her hair in a stylish ponytail. Aishwarya chose her favourite mermaid-style silhouette for her pink dress. After a disappointing campaign, Virat Kohli roared back to form when it mattered the most for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The former RCB captain smashed 73 off 54 balls as RCB chased down a stiff 169-run target set by Gujarat Titans (GT) in 18.4 overs and kept themselves alive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 play-offs race. They are now placed fourth on the points table with 16 points. Kohli stitched a 115- run stand with Faf du Plessis for the opening wicket before the RCB captain was dismissed by Rashid Khan on 44(38).
